RULES
Unless otherwise addressed below, all Hockey Alberta rules will apply. Your waiver MUST be completed prior to playing.
FORMAT
General
5-minute warm-up prior to each game.
Intermissions between periods will be 2 minutes
Due to tight scheduling, ANY TEAM 15 MINUTES LATE OR MORE WILL FORFEIT THE GAME
Players
4-vs-4 + 1 goaltender for each team
Teams must have a minimum of 5 participants (ie. 4 players + 1 goalie) to be eligible to play
Length of Games
Round Robin Games
Two 15-minute periods, run-time
Playoffs
Two 20-minute periods, run time
Gameplay
Scoring
After each goal scored, play resumes following a face-off at center ice (either via N-H-L or having a team member drop the puck).
The maximum goal differential that will be recorded for a game is 7 goals.
Tie games
Tie games will be decided by a 3-vs.-3 penalty shootout.
If still tied after the 3-vs-3 shootout, sudden death shootout rules apply.
Teams may not use a player who has previously taken a penalty shot unless all players have had a chance to participate (not including the goaltender).
Penalties
Minor penalties will result in a penalty shot for the opposing team
Players penalized for fighting or deemed to be intending to injure the opposing player will be automatically ejected from the tournament.
Players failing to adhere to an ejection will risk team ejection from the tournament.
Standings
Teams will receive
2 points for a win
1 point for a shoot-out loss
0 points for a loss.
Round Robin Tiebreaker
The tiebreaker algorithm for the standings in the round robin will be as follows:
Outcome in round robin games
Goal differential
Most goals for.
In the event of a 3-way tie for first, the top team will be determined by goal differential . The remaining teams will play in a playoff game.
In the event of a 3-way tie for second, the worst team will be determined by goal differential. The remaining teams will play in a playoff game.
